Sadat Hossain

Writer, Poet, Film Maker

Sadat Hossain is a young Bangladeshi writer who started his career with photography and later on proliferated it as a filmmaker and author. His novels were the best sellers at the ‘Ekushey Book Fair’ in recent years. He won the best ‘Filmmaker’ award with the short film ‘The Shoes’ in ‘short film festivals 2016’ organized by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. He also achieved the award of Junior Chamber international in the category of cultural achievement for his outstanding creation of short film ‘Bodh’ and book ‘Janalar Opashe’ which is termed as ‘Ten Outstanding young personalities in Bangladesh’ [2013] . He also won the SBSP-RP Foundation Literary Award 2018.
So far he has written around 10 books including poetry and photography. Most of his works dealt with the perception of life, human relationship, feeling, passion and contemporary social patterns.

Early Life

Hossain was born and brought up in a village name Kayaria of Madaripur district. His father worked as a soldier in Bangladesh Army and mother is a house wife. He has got a younger brother and a only sister. Both of them are student.
He completed his school years at “S.P.S High School.” and passed SSC from the same institution. In the year of 2001 he completed HSC from ‘DK Ideal Syed Atahar Ali Academy & College’, Dashar, Kalkini, Madaripur. Then He entered in ‘Jahangirnagar University’ and received Honors & Master of Arts academic degree in Anthropology.
He has been married to Nusrat since 2017 . She is from Dhaka and physician by profession.

Career

Hossain is the author of top selling novels Arshinagar (2015), ‘Andarmohol’ [2016], Manobjonom [2017], ‘Nisshongo Nokkhotro ’[2018] in Ekushey book fair.

He started his early career in various non govt organization like Advancing Public Interest Trust (APIT), Spellbound, Dnet, Thirdbell etc. He quits his corporate career to focus only in writing. Besides writing he has interest in filmmaking as well. He is the founder of ‘ASH’ Production house. This production house released a number of visual contents like short films, dramas, music videos, documentaries etc. Short film ‘Bodh’, ‘The shoes’ and documentary ‘The Legend’ on singer Syed Abdul Hadi and singer and actor are some mentionable works of ASH production.

Among other activities he is a well known public speaker. He delivers speech and conducts workshops in various govt /non govt organizations and educational institutions. He also hosts a television program.

Sadat Hossain is perceptive observer of human instinct. His writing focuses on crisis in inter personal relationship, exploitation and sufferings regardless of gender, cast and socio economic classes. He loves to tell stories of life in different forms of literature and in a wider canvas. His yearning embedded in the verses creates absolute tranquility.
